Angus Chard is a 2nd generation Podiatrist, Angus has been practicing for 22 years and qualified as one of an elite list of Sports Podiatrists (FAAPSM) in 1996. In addition to these qualifications Angus has studied Western Herbal Medicine and is a Level II Middle Distance Running Coach. Angus continues to offer patients the latest treatments and lower limb solutions; now in his 5th research year (PhD) focusing on; “The Effect of Footwear on Children’s 3D Multisegment Foot and Lower limb Biomechanics”.
Angus has been recognized by his peers for his research with podium presentations and delivering workshops at the International Society of Biomechanics (Brussels) 2011, International Symposium of Foot and Ankle Biomechanics (Sydney 2013) and recently accepted International Society of Biomechanics in Sport (Poitiers, France 2015).
As an avid educator, Angus regularly hosts podiatry and medical students within his practice and welcomes the opportunity to speak with community groups, schools and sporting clubs. Angus is a regular worker in Whistler’s (B.C. Canada) premier custom fitting ski-boot store “Fanatyk Co” solving the sore feet of elite to unseasoned skiers and snowboarders.
He has a passion for staying fit and growing up, Angus represented NSW in ice hockey in three age levels. He also enjoyed rugby as a tight and loose forward, played cricket as a batter wicket-keeper and later a medium pace bowler, in addition to water polo. Angus hung up his Mountain Bike four years ago and turned to paddling a surf-ski and participates in iron man competitions for Bondi Surf Club, and is now focusing on competing in the Coolangatta Gold.
Angus is passionate about helping patients to understand the mechanism of their injury and the opportunity to drive evidence-based preventative treatments. If management is warranted then an understanding of the treatment approach and purpose is essential to resolve initial symptoms, promote independence and prevent recurrence.
The Little Blue House opened in autumn fourteen years ago as a solution to people suffering from foot and leg pain. The Dural Podiatry & Sports Podiatry Centre team is also known as the Foot and leg Pain Centre, and under Angus’ guidance prides itself in the provision of cost-effective treatments for the conservative management of acute and chronic foot and leg musculoskeletal conditions.
