Foot strengthening programmes are a mainstay of the foot and leg pain centre. We individualise over 130 different foot strengthening exercises to provide programmes that progressively challenge individuals. Foot strength and stability are imperative for healthy arch function, responsible for 35 - 48% of your foot propulsive power (1-4) while walking and running.
A large volume of evidence supports the notion that children growing up in communities without footwear develop healthier, stronger feet. Intuitively, the contraction and relaxation strengthen their bare feet, leading to improved foot health and function. (4)
